Job Summary:
The Supervising Behavior Consultant utilizes discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties and goals of the organization. The Supervising Behavior Consultant trains and oversees multiple BCBA and Mid-Level Behavior Consultants  while they develop, deliver, and monitor individualized behavior programs of early intervention treatment for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with the goal of a more effective and improved quality of life for each individual. The Supervising Behavior Consultant ensures appropriate collaboration is occurring between all members of the child’s treatment team with emphasis on parent and care giver participation on a regular basis. They are responsible for the performance of their staff and each program’s overall progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Supervises BCBA and Mid-Level behavior consultants, lead RBTs, and behavior techs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of consultants; providing ongoing feedback to consultants, lead RBTs, and behavior techs; providing necessary input consultants require in order to provide quality individualized behavior programs; troubleshoots consultant’s weaknesses and provides one on one teaching to increase their knowledge and abilities; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Conducts meetings with consultant. Observes and oversees direct visits to client with and without consultant to ensure quality of program.Provides clients with on-site supervision in order to monitor therapy teams to insure client success.Continuously oversee consultants and child’s progress and troubleshoot to create the most effective treatment plan for the team.Serve as a member of IEP & PTM team and provide objectives, behavior intervention plans, and recommendations for comprehensive goals for their clients to be implemented at center and home.Monitor the consultant’s ability to follow curriculum, review the learning trees, review data, and observe program implementation.Asses concerns and observations of consultants and care providers (i.e., teachers and/or parents), revise curriculum, interface with adjunctive service providers and other professionals, and also interface with representatives from insurance companies and other agencies.Approves treatment plans for quality content and professional language.Attends conferences and client home and/or insurance meetings.Maintain confidentiality of clientConducts department trainings.

Supervision:

The direct care staff members, “Partners”, provide direct instruction and support for teen and adult consumers diagnosed with autism and other disabilities. Partners participate in a comprehensive hiring process of interviews and mandatory educational, health, and security clearances. Once employed Partners are required to attend mandatory training and pass competency written and in situ exams and evaluations within the first two weeks of date of hire before being assigned to a group of consumers. In the first year of employment, Partners are required to pass field competency tests every three months.

Provide supervision, instruction and guidance of consumers per directives provided by the Clinical Behavior Consultant.
 Support work tasks as designed.
 Ensure participation in work routines e.g., breaks, meal breaks, leisure time, etc.
 Ensure participation in leisure activities e.g., reading, games, etc.
Provide support during adaptive skill routines e.g., preparing a meal, hygiene, etc.
 Record the performance of individual consumers.

Qualifications

Other Competencies or Skills:
•One year from hire date, staff must satisfactory complete the first and second Direct SupportProfessional (DSP) 35-hour competency- based training courses respectively and pass thecompetency test application to each training segment.
•Ability to read and write in the English language, in order to perform essential duties.
•Possess ASL/Sign Language skills, if applicable for the needs of the individual.

  • Work one-on-one with child, implementing individual lessons and behavior intervention plans as specified by the behavior consultant.
  • Monitor progress by accurately recording each session and providing notes as indicated by behavior consultant on designated data sheets, or in online data collection system.
  • Know and understand the specific goals and behavior plans of each client you are assigned.
  • Implementation of each individual lesson (specific instruction, the exact target response that the child must display, the specific prompt level anticipated before giving the instruction, and the appropriate amount/type of the consequence for the target response).
  • Communication with behavior consultant for questions on lesson implementation or progression, training needs, problems with child’s progression, behavior excesses, etc.

Qualifications

Employees who work 1:1 with children diagnosed with autism need to be physically fit for the job by being able to lift 50 lbs.; sit on the floor and small child size chairs; stand; walk; run; climb; bend; stoop; reach; kneel; crawl; push; normalvisual, vocal & hearing acuity; use of a computer; ability to write; vocal communication; maintain overall energy during the entire shift.
